Animal Hide vs Vegan Leather vs Plant Leather for Corporate Gifting

Every gifting brief eventually lands on the same question: "So… which leather?" Get it right and your logo sits on someone's desk for five years. Get it wrong and it sits in a drawer with the other lanyards.
What each material actually is

Real leather
Tanned animal hide. The classic: it creases, softens and picks up character with use. Every piece is slightly different, and that's the point.

PU on fabric
A polyurethane coating on a fabric base. Animal-free, very consistent, and available in almost any colour or texture, including Saffiano.

Made from crop waste
Ours is made using mango and tomato agricultural waste from India. Animal-free, and it gives the gift a story people actually repeat.
Quick vocabulary note: you'll also see Vegan Leather sold as "faux leather" or "PU leather". Same family. Plant Leather is different: it's made using plant material rather than being only plastic. For pouches specifically, see PU vs plant-based pouches.

How to choose, by who's receiving it
Senior leaders and key clients
Go Animal Hide. A card holder or folio that gets better with age says "we're in this for the long run" without anyone having to say it. If your company has a no-animal-products policy, Plant Leather is the premium alternative.
Hundreds of employees, one deadline
Vegan Leather is the practical hero here. It holds your brand colour exactly, looks identical across the whole batch, and keeps the per-unit budget sane, so the festive kit lands on time and on budget.
A company with sustainability goals
If your annual report talks about sustainability, your gift shouldn't contradict it. Plant Leather made using mango and tomato waste turns the gift into a conversation: "Wait, this is made from what?" That's brand recall you can't buy with a bigger logo. More on why plant-based leather is the future.
Mixing materials in one programme
You don't have to pick one. A common setup: Animal Hide or Plant Leather for leadership, Vegan Leather for the wider team, all in matching colours and the same logo treatment. See leather gift sets people actually use.

Frequently asked questions
Which leather is best for corporate gifts? +
It depends on who receives the gift and what you want it to say. Animal Hide suits leadership and client gifts meant to last for years. Vegan Leather suits large employee or event orders where consistent colour and budget matter most. Plant Leather suits companies with sustainability commitments that want the gift itself to carry that story.
Is vegan leather the same as plant leather? +
No. Vegan Leather usually means a polyurethane (PU) coated fabric, so it is animal-free but plastic-based. Plant Leather is made using plant material, in our case mango and tomato agricultural waste. Both are animal-free; they differ in what they're made from and the story they tell.
Can all three materials take a company logo? +
Yes. Animal Hide takes debossing and embossing especially well. Vegan Leather is the easiest to colour-match to a brand palette. The best branding method for Plant Leather is confirmed on a sample before bulk production.
What is plant leather made of? +
The Plant Leather we use is made using mango and tomato agricultural waste from India. Ask us for the material specification sheet for exact composition and backing details for your product.

We'll make samples in Animal Hide, Vegan Leather and Plant Leather with your logo, so the decision makes itself.
